I got Stanley in December 2001 when he was just 8 weeks old.
Although I have had other dogs before, I had not had any real experience of boxers before. My previous dogs had all grown up to be pretty "normal"! Stan has proved to be a real challenge (she says through gritted teeth). He is extremely wilful and can be very OTT but I think we are finally "getting there". I just have to remember to be constantly strict with him, which goes against the grain a bit. As someone once said to me, "if you give him your little finger, he'll take your arm". (Not literally, though, I hasten to add.)Apparently, he should mellow a bit by the time he's about three!
He is a fabulously friendly fella - some may say too friendly (especially those with an aversion to slobber!) and I would trust him implicitly with the kids as he hasn't got a bad bone in his body. When all's said and done, we love him to bits. |
